Frequently Asked Questions

Why come to therapy?

Therapy is beneficial because it provides a safe, judgement free space to explore life's issues. It will allow you to explore trauma from the past, anxiety about the future or stress regarding current circumstances. It also provides a different kind of relationship than a family member or friend because a therapist can act as an unbiased sounding board,  focused on your wellness.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are a standard 50 mins in length. We book for 50 mins as this allows the therapist to use the final 10 mins of the hour to wrap up your session, book future appointments and write any required notes.

75 mins sessions are also now available.

How much do sessions cost?

Our session fees range from $125-$135 depending on clinician for a standard 50 minute session. 75 minute sessions are adjusted based on time in session and will range from $187.50-$202.50.

Therapy is an investment in your mental health and relationships. If you are facing financial difficulty I encourage you to reach out to discuss a sliding scale rate. Spots are limited and you may be put on a waitlist until a spot becomes available.

Sliding scale sessions are subject to documentation and requests in writing.

How does Insurance Work?

Counselling and Therapy are not presently covered through Manitoba Health.

Our clinicians are registered with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) as Canadian Certified Counsellors (CCC), you can find their license numbers on the Team page. It is the client's responsibility to contact their insurance company prior to the first session to ensure this designation is approved.

Some insurance companies we may be listed as pre-approved providers with are:

- Blue Cross

- Sunlife

What is your cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is in place as booking a session reserves a spot just for you.

If the need arises for you to cancel your appointment we ask that you provide 48 hours notice before your scheduled session as this allows us time to reach out with this appointment time to our waitlist.

If 48 hours notice is not provided a half session fee will be charged. With less than 24 hours notice, a Full session fee will be charged.

What can I expect in my initial session?

In your initial session you should expect to go over some paperwork, begin discussing what brought you to seek therapy and some history of the issue. You can also expect to go over potential ways you have attempted to resolve this issue and your hopes for therapy.

When you are booking your initial session, we encourage you to view it as a commitment to one session rather than viewing it as a commitment to ongoing therapy. The first session allows the client and therapist to get to know one another and see if it will be a good fit. The best outcome typically comes when there is trust and while we hope you feel that with us, we want you to get the most out of your counselling experience, regardless of who you choose as your therapist.

How long should I expect to be in therapy for?

This is a question that unfortunately is impossible to answer. Some clients come to therapy with a specific struggle in mind and find they only need a few sessions to overcome it. Others feel they need a consistent person in their lives to work through life struggles with which could result in long term therapy. Ultimately, the choice is yours. While your therapist will come up with a treatment plan with you, you can choose to end therapy whenever you desire. That being said, we do typically recommend having a least 1-2 termination sessions to wrap up the work being done.
